winter can be seen as an enemy for anyone, for several reasons. depression tends to be at it’s highest at this time of year, the cold air and strong winds dry your skin/nails/hair/lips out, and you just can’t get away with a short skirt and bare legs the way you can during spring. here’s a few ways I beat the winter blues ;

  • Hydration.

I make sure to drink at least two bottles of water each day, to help flush out my body and keep my body hydrated. Water helps flush toxins out of your body, it helps you achieve a clear complexion and you never really know if you’re dehydrated until you’re at the point where you can’t even see straight because of how dizzy you are. It’s the easiest thing to overlook, but don’t put yourself in that sort of situation like I’ve found myself doing. DRINK UP!

  • Bake.

Try out a new recipe you found online or in a cooking book! Experiment with different extracts {peppermint, almond, vanilla} and different oils {coconut oil is my favorite, and has so many other beauty related uses too!}. Whether it be a new caramel fudge brownie recipe or a cinnamon spice cake, now is the time to try it out!

  • Moisturize.

We often forget to moisturize during the winter months, mainly because we only associate a loss of body moisture with the heat. You need to moisturize your body and face during the winter just the same as you do in the summer, but use thicker and creamier formulas during the colder months. For example, during summer I may use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, but in the winter I’ll use Ponds Original Moisturizing Cream to really help my skin face the frigid temperatures.

  • Get hooked on a new show.

In my opinion, the best time to get into a new TV show is the winter. You don’t want to go outside in the freezing cold, so you can just curl up on the couch and watch the seasons you missed instead of the summer, when you’d rather be at the beach with your friends than watching some show alone.

  • DIY.

Start some DIY projects! Whether you invite some friends over and do group DIY projects or by yourself, it’s a fun way to let time fly by and not have to venture out in the cold. You can start making some Valentines Day decorations too, or just some things to spice up your room a bit!

  • Makeup.

I’ll spend a day in my room with a hand mirror and some new makeup products, experimenting with them and playing around with them. I don’t like to just buy a new product and wear it for the first time to school or to work, because I won’t know how it works ahead of time and if I should be touching it up throughout the day if it runs, etc.

Makeup shouldn't define who you are, just enhance it. Don't hide behind your makeup, live through it and be proud of who you are.
“‎Lipstick is really magical. It holds more than a waxy bit of color - it holds the promise of a brilliant smile, a brilliant day, both literally and figuratively.” I take questions, product requests for reviews, and if you'd like to post a review just submit it to me. I'll post makeup and hair tutorials (mainly makeup) and whatever else you'd like me to.
